| Acknowledge and respect each individual’s unique qualities, hidden gifts and talents, and create arenas to overcome barriers to self-expression, so that all young people feel they can voice it! | Raise awareness that we all have choices, in how we experience ourselves and others and hence also the power and responsibility to shape our own lives. | Challenge the fears, prejudices and limiting mindsets that pervade our society, and change futures by injecting positivity, celebrating diversity and promoting social cohesion. |
In recognising the important role of youth in our society and our future, Voice it! explores a positive vision and purpose for working with young people by:
- Promoting spaces of non-judgement, celebrating diversity and encouraging a sense of belonging.
- Developing relevant, practical and fun ways of engaging, empowering and inspiring them.
- Challenging beliefs and breaking down barriers that limit and restrict them.
- Valuing them for not only what they are doing but for who they are being.
- Placing humour, laughter and fun at the centre of all our programmes to increase creativity, achievement and personal development.
- Providing programmes and experiences that offer hope, support, encouragement and hence new opportunities and choices for positive self expression.
- At the heart of Voice it! are the innovative ‘RESPECT IT’ , ‘Express it’ and ‘GO 4 IT’ Journey and Impact programmes.
It has always been societies’ responsibility to guide, nurture, educate and develop the fullest potential of every young person. The primary responsibility for this has traditionally fallen to families yet, due to the increasing breakdown of the family unit this is not the case for many young people in today’s society. Coupled with the diminishing impact of traditional ideologies in shaping young peoples actions and choices, it has now become imperative to devise an alternative way of meeting the personal and social development needs of young people.
Pre-emptive Intervention and Root Causes
These fundamental changes in society have led many young people to experience low self-esteem, lack confidence, possess limited social skills, and believe they have little hope for the future. This can often lead into a downward spiral of behavioural problems and academic and social disenfranchisement.
Until we begin to address these root causes, by instead nurturing in our young people a healthy sense of identity, assist them in feeling good about themselves, give them success tools, confidence and a genuine hope for the future – these issues will only continue.
At Voice it! Education we recognise the need to devise a new framework that takes pre-emptive action to empower young people to learn how to think, and construct a personal belief system that will drive responsible choice and action, whilst developing the social, emotional and motivational skills required for success in life.
I’m so glad that somebody has expressed the need to change the way we educate our future.
Voice it! Education is taking the lead in devising forward thinking models of teaching and developing ground breaking programmes and resources. Every step of the way we work specifically to enliven the learning experience with interactive games and discussions – infused with fun – which result in effective and meaningful socialisation and communication. Forums where learners can Voice it! and be genuinely listened to, maximise the student’s enjoyment, attention and desire to engage in the learning. This validation goes a long way to building self esteem and facilitates transformative learning experiences – with the power to ground life choices in personal experience rather than a prescribed formulae absent of personal verification.
The Voice it! programmes bridge knowledge and understanding with development of student’s attitudes and values, by encouraging them to reflect, discuss and communicate effectively.
